Description
This is a Adolf Hitler playue + case:
“Ehrenpreis der Stadt Darmstadt Reichsoffene Wettkämpfe für Hitlerjugend und Jungmannen 9. Juni 1940” [ Honorary Price for the city of Darmstadt for the Riech open competitions for the Hitleryouth and Young men on 9 June 1940].
On the lower right of Hitlers image is a makers mark MH, this stands for the designer of the plaque, being Heinrich Moshage.
Usually these particular plaques – which were official recognized awards and not just plaques – were awared by municipalities to companys in their respective cities, but on rare occasions it could be decided to award them for other purposes. As can be seen here this particular plaque was awared by the City of Darmstadt as an honorary award to Hitleryouth and Youngmen members for the reich open sportscompetions of 1040.
While the plaques and cases can be found, it is extremely rare to find one purposed and awarded like this and with an actual engraved dedication. I did not research it, but suspect it can not be too hard to be resarched further to an actual awardee.
Both case and plaque are in excellent condition.
