Description
This is the album of SA mann Willy Bräunlich from hagen i/W. [in Westfalen].
Willy Bräunlich collected throughout his whole SA career photo’s and added these to this personalized album.
In total there is an amazing number of approximately 500 photo’s (many in small size) glued in this album. They show a retrospect of everything Bräunlich experienced, from his postwar training in such trainingprocesses in e.g. the Führerschule der SA-Gruppe Westfalen, and the Sportschule S.A. Brigade 69 Max Piotrowski, situated in the region Hagen.
The content of the album shows way too much to list it all here, i tried adding as many pictures of the content, and am confident the interested SA- or photo collector will recognize the many details pictured here. Such as e.g. the Hagen De Standarte, the NSDAP/SA honor flag of Theodor Sanders (also from Hagen, more on him here: https://www.lwl.org/westfaelische-geschichte/nstopo/strnam/Begriff_225.html), the war operation area’s in France and on the Eastfront, the letters Bräunlich sent during the war to his wife and which are also included, etcetera, etcetera. There is just too much to mention.
All the way in the back Willy Bräunclich kept up untill the 1970’s, long after the war adding pictures of fallen former comrades with whom he had served. For this he openened the album and the two screws holding the wooden front and backplate’s have been replaced by him. Also the backplate appears to have been replaced by Bräunlich. The whole album is nothing short of a unique timecapsule.
The real eyecatcher is of course the hand cut wooden front plate of the album, displaying a SA logo in the centre, flanked by four Third Reich eagles in the corners, all four holding swastika’s in a wreath in their claws. It makes for a unique display piece.
