This is the special 5. SS-Panzer Division Wiking edition of the book: “In ‘t Verleden ligt ‘t Heden”, published by Ersatzkommando Waffen-SS Niederlanden, 59 pp. 24 x 22 cm. Including the IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND dustjacket.
This is the only dustjacket i have ever encountered in over 25 years of collecting books. Even in the biggest dutch paperworkscollections the dustjacket is missing. This is of the utmost rarity to find!
The book “In ‘t Verleden ligt ‘t Heden”, shows old Dutch sea heroes of past centuries and sets them as example to Dutch SS men like Gerardus Mooyman and other volunteers. The book is mainly a picture/photobook.
This SS book is already rare to find, but unknown to most collectors is that a very limited edition was published especially for Dutch members of the 5. SS-Panzer Division Wiking. This special edition has a different cover with two large SS runes on top and an extra page on which the division’s name and a round swastika sunwheel (the logo of Wiking) were added. It also has a dustjacket. Of the only two Wiking edition’s of this book i’ve had in 25 years, this is the only one EVER that is complete with the dustjacket. Never seen before and before this one was discovered i had never seen the dustjacket with my own eyes!
Very rare to find and obviously only the first we can ever offer this complete! I haven’t seen another edition of this book in the Wiking edition for sale in years, but including the dustjacket it is the first time ever.
The book is tight bound, complete, however, due to bad paper the book is ALWAYS with some brown foxing spots and that is not different here. The inside pages and the outside cover are perfect. The dustjacket shows some typical age damages from handling, nothing really disturbing and at least it is present!
In my opinion better not to be found, that is: if you ever find a copy!!!! Extremely rare and very possibly the only time ever in my life i can offer it like this!!!
