Description
This is a commemorative album for the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Many commemorative albums were made after the games, e.g. the wellknown blue cigarette albums, but the best looking and for sure also luxuary edition is this volume by Reichssportfuhrer H. von Tschammer und Osten: Zur Erinnerung an die XI. Olympiade Berlin 1936. On the first two pages facsimile printed autographs of the winners, and throughout the album are typical photo’s of Berlin and German landscapes and cities. The often missing Hitler and Tschammer und Osten are still present, the album is complete.
The album just breaths luxuary. It comes in a silver colored protective case (Schuber), which shows in the centre window the Olympic bell executed in copper color, on a red a white field. This is also the color of the album itself, in a imitation leather like cover. The album cmoes in a celluloid dustjacket. This is always missing. Here it is still present but unfortunately damaged. It did however protect the album well as the album itself is in pritine condition. On the lower left side is an original bronze NSRL sportsbacge (stickpin) attached to the album. I think this was added by the original owner, and left it there as it is part of the book’s history.
Overall in very good condition.
Like this, with the original silver cardboard case very hard to find.
Of all the 1936 Olympia albums this is probably the best one!
