Description

Gerhard Seger, Concentratiekamp Oranienburg, N.V. De Arbeidspers, Amsterdam, (1934), 102 pp. Softcover.

This is a very early Dutch publication about concentrationcamp Oranienburg.

It was the first authentic story of the concentration camp. It was written by Gerhart Seger, who had excaped from the camp and was from 1930 to 1933 a member of the Reichstag, and was a social-democratic politician, a pacifist and a writer. After the takeover of power in 1933, he was one of the first Reichstag deputy’s, who was held prison. In June of 1933, he, together with another political prisoner was transferred to the concentration camp at Oranienburg, where in december 1933, he managed to escape. He fled to Prague, where he wrote down his memories of the camp. The story became internationally well-known and showed off the other side of the nazi regime.

The conditon of the brochure is so-so, the soft paper cover is still there but shows some aging.

Either way, this is a must have for any WW2 collection.
