Description
(Denmark) SS Schalburgkorps Songbook + paperwork grouping from Schalburgkorpsmember Kaj Mogens Krogh, born 20 september 1915 in Copenhagen. Krogh was pre-WW2 a member of the Danish army and joined during the war the SS Schalburgkorps.
Krogh was at the end of the Second World War taken prisoner and released on 20 Mai 1949 from prison “Straffelejren i Faarhus”. He had at this point still a remaing prisontime of 6 year and 23 days to go. There is also a document from the Danish officersschool (pre-war) Krogh attended from 1938/1939, as well as his pre war military drivers licence (with photo in uniform), which states he was allowed to drive vehicles up to 2500 kilos.
The best item in the group is ofcourse the danish SS Schalburgkorps songbook: “Sangbog for Schalburg-Korpset“. These songbooks are very very hard to find with only a handfull known in advanced danish collections. Since these were printed on bad wartime paper they are unfortunately all more or less damaged, this booklet being no exception with a bookblock that has come partially loose from the spine and a tear on the first page. It is however still a very rare booklet of which only less than a handfull is known, even in Denmark itself. On the international collectorsmarket or shows i have never before encountered one in all of my collecting life (spanning almost 3 decades). This one comes directly from denmark from a collectorsfriend who got it recently out of the woodwork. These books are rare in any condition as such!
Having one of these books in a named group, with prewar/wartime photo from the owner and other accompanying documents, is very very rare and to my knowledge the only one known to be identified to an owner.
