This is a Deutsche Verdienstmedaille im Silber (Silberne Verdienst medaille der Deutschen Adler Orden / Silver merit medal of the German eagle Order) with it’s original case.
The medal is in very good condition and is on the underside on the rim marked with a silver hallmark consisting of “half moon and 835” for silver content, and “Pr. Münze Berlin”, which was the maker. The medal is the early 1937/1939 type with the so-called “Fraktur” writting (goth writting on the reverse side of the medal).
The red case qith gold eagle on top is in very good condition. There are a few age wear and tear spots but nothing serious and definately better than most cases that pop up on the market (IF you can find one!).
These medals were mostly awared to diplomats or foreigners who were considered important in German diplomatic contacts.
Very hard to find, this is a rare set! Especially in this good condition!
