Description
This is an original Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (DKIG), more particularly it’s an early “Heavy” DKIG by maker Carl Friedrich Zimmermann from Pforzheim. Complete with matching early case with typical double hinges (hard to find!).
The cross is under the pin maker marked with “20”, which of course stands for maker C.F. Zimmermann. The cross is in very good only light worn condition, with only a few to the naked eye invisable minor scratches and at the lower arm a minuscule chip (only noticable when taking photo’s). The typical Zimmermann die flaw at the 10 o’clock tip is present as well. Simply a textbook cross in great condition!!!!
There are a few minor “wear and tear” marks inside and outside of the case but nothing really disturbing, finding one of these early double hinge cases is very hard! The white cloth between the upper and lower part is still there as well.
This is a great displaypiece that would make a guaranteed centrepiece in any museum- of collectorscabinet!
