Description
This is a Dutch Army before 1940 gasmask model H, complete with canister and all extra parts. This model H was only in use in 1940 (before the German attack on the Netherlands).
The model H was the successor of the model G which was still a mask in a carrying bag.
Model H has only been in use for a very short time during the mobilisation and was mainly issued to the cyclists of the dutch Army (Wielrijders).
The rubber gasmask itself is in excellent condition for it’s age, i don’t think it can be upgraded. The canister itself is complete with canvas carrying strap and with lovely green paint, it is excellent as well. These model H canisters were modelled after the German gasmask canisters.
Inside the cannister are all seperate parts (accessories) that came with a fresh issued canister, even the chalks and the closing cap of the maskfilter are still present (almost always missing).
A set like this, in this condition is nowadays very hard to find, even here in the Netherlands. I dont think a better one will surface any time soon.
