Description
This is a great grouping of a member of the German II. Infanterie Regiment 181.
It contains among many other things three photoalbums with many pictures from the Regiment 181 on their way through Luxemburg, Belgium and France in 1940.
The albums contain 288, 198 and 133 photo’s, thus in total 619 photo’s! Most are military related photo’s, only a very few are civilian.
The grouping further consists of:
- A cased Iron Cross First class (altough unmarked it can be attributed to maker Wachter & Lange. The catch is period repaired). A very nice set.
- An Infanterie Sturmabzeichen (maker marked on the back with rare maker JB & Co)
- A black woundbadge
- An Erkennungsmarke in leather holder
- A single Westwall ribbon
- A French (resistence) armband piece
- A trench art letter opener
- A Map of the route of the IR 181 in France, Belgium and Luxemburg in 1940 (damaged and in two parts)
- A miniature stickpin with EK1, EK2 and VWA black
- A piece of Iron Cross ribbon that was sewn to a uniform
- A collartab set
- Three shoulderboards
Very interesting is that there is a photo in one of the albums in which the owner clearly wears the shoulderboards, collartabs, medals, etc!
This is a great group of items that belong all together and come from the same owner. It deserves to be invetigated and researched further.
Hard to find like this!!!
