Description
This is a rare grouping of items from the same owner. It consists of an Iron Cross (rare double maker marked in the ring with “65”, which stands for maker Klein & Quenzer) + Citation + Gravephoto + Postcard + Newspaper with obituary of the owner.
The iron cross itself is in very good condition, with all black core.
Finding a complete group like this is very rare!
On name of Gefreiten Karl Heinz Schwenzer, from 2. Kompanie, Pionier-Bataillon 263.
The date on the citation is 8 March 1943, it was issued only two days before Schwenzer died on 10 March 1943. This date can clearly be seen on the Agfa photocard of Heinz Schwenzers grave. It is very rare to find such original gravephoto’s that match with other personal items.
Also included is a postcard Schwenzer had sent to his fiancee (?).
The most interesting and rare part however, is the original “Rhein- Mainische Sonntags Zeitung” newspaper, which dated 28 March 1943, only two weeks after Heinz Schwenzers death! It shows an obituary dedicated to him. This is particularly interesting, because often deaths were only published at much later times.
A rare group!
