This is a great C.E.Juncker Knights Cross with Godet Oak leaves and with it’s original case.
The Knights Cross is a C.E. Juncker made and 800 (for silver content) and L/12 marked cross. L/12 of course representing the C.E. Juncker attributed LDO number. The cross is in great condition, only light worn with just the right patination. It is an amazing piece and – as is probably wellknown – this particular maker is one of the more desirable Knights Crosses to find on the collectors market. As collectors knowledge tells, the original dies for this particular makers RK were destroyed towards the end of the war, by an air raid on Berlin. Many Knights crosses on the collector market are unissued pieces, but by knowing of the destroyed dies, the C.E. Juncker crosses can with certainty be known to have been actual awarded Knights Crosses (more on the background of the cross under here).
The accompanying Oak leaves are in excellent condition and have only been lightly worn too, they still show a lot of silver finish on both front and back. There are two maker marks on the back. The “900”mark is for the silver content, and the L/50 mark is for the maker, being Gebrüder Godet & Co from Berlin. This particular L/50 type of oak leaves is the rarest to encounter, and much rarer (and desirable!) than the more commonly found L/21 marked Oak leaves. As a set this L/12 cross with L/50 marked Oak leaves is just about as good as it gets!!!
The original accompanying case is a very nice early RK case in good condition and with full functional “mushroom” pushbutton. It shows on the outer surface only minor age marks, and comes with a piece of iron cross ribbon. The original RK neckribbon is not present (another can easily be found). This is all exactly as the original recipient/veteran has kept it diligently for decades together after the war. Also included in this group are three Luftwaffe shoulderboards, some tunic buttons, two collar tabs and a numbered SA Sportsbadge. All items are guaranteed from the same owner and have always been kept together. The whole group was offered to us and bought directly via a middleman to ensure privacy – which we respect! – and has never been on the collectorsmarket before. With keeping in mind how rare original (actual worn) RK groupings are, one can understand what a rare chance it is to be able to offer this group.
Only about 882 Knights Crosses with Oak leaves have been awarded up untill may 1945, making this award one of the rarest, and definately most prestigious, German awards of the whole second world war.
