Description
The Yser plaque for “vuurkaarthouders” (firecard holders) is a round fairly large 6,5 centimeter non wearable medal.
On the front is shown a World War I Belgian soldier in full gear, who’s on watch at the Yser front. Written surrounding the edge is: “1914 Yser… niet over 1918” (1914 Yser don’t pass 1918).
The reverse shows the name of the recipient Emile Vermeulen, holder of the Firecard.
Very rare is the accompanying case by Paul Villers medals from Brussels. In all our years of collecting this is only the first case we have ever had. The name under the case is different? The two seem however to have been together for a long time? Offered as it is.
Please note this is a 100% original plaque. The name of the soldier and his picture can be found for research in one of the so called “Guldenboeken der vuurkaart houders”. These plaque’s are curently massively reproduced and sold online, this is however a guaranteed original set in just great condition!
