This is the long awaited book regarding NSB publisher NENASU and with many other new insights into the structure and methods of the NSB.
A small synopsis:
“We don’t want to detract our opponents a bit or take them off their feet. We just want to destroy them.” This was the official tone of the publications of Anton Mussert’s Nederlandsche Nationaal-Socialistische Uitgeverij NENASU. In addition to the weekly newspaper Volk en Vaderland, the propaganda machine of the NSB published books, brochures and other periodicals. Mussert earned tons of money with his publishing activities. Black propaganda allows NSB members to speak for themselves to outline the political history of their movement and the publishing house. The hundreds of quotes from supporters and opponents place the reader in the middle of the political debate of the period between 1934 and 1945. Intrigue, tax evasion, abuse of power and even the black market in printing paper are discussed. While NSB members tracked down resistance fighters and died on the eastern front, resistance newspapers appeared on paper sold by NENASU. What were the concrete political positions of Mussert’s movement? How anti-Semitic was the NSB? The author’s research reveals through NENASU publications that the NSB was much more radical than certain modern historians would have you believe.

Wij willen hen enkel maar vernietigen.” Dit was de officiële toon van de publicaties van Anton Musserts Nederlandsche Nationaal-Socialistische Uitgeverij NENASU. De propagandamachine van de NSB gaf naast de weekkrant Volk en Vaderland boeken, brochures en andere periodieken uit. Mussert verdiende tonnen met zijn uitgeversactiviteiten. Zwarte propaganda laat NSB’ers zelf aan het woord om de politieke geschiedenis van hun beweging en de uitgeverij te schetsen. De honderden citaten van voor- en tegenstanders plaatsen de lezer midden in het politieke debat van de periode tussen 1934 en 1945. Daarbij komen de intriges, belastingontduiking, machtsmisbruik en zelfs zwarte handel in drukpapier aan de orde. Terwijl NSB’ers verzetsstrijders opspoorden en sneuvelden aan het oostfront verschenen verzetskranten op door NENASU verkocht papier. Wat waren de concrete politieke standpunten van Musserts beweging? Hoe antisemitisch was de NSB? Het onderzoek van de schrijver onthult aan de hand van NENASU-publicaties dat de NSB veel radicaler was dan bepaalde moderne historici doen geloven.
