The first national rally of the NSB (National Socialist Movement) took place on Whit Monday in 1934 at De Burcht in Wedde.
This gathering, organized by NSB leader Anton Mussert, marked the beginning of the movement’s public demonstrations during the 1930s.
Background of the NSB in Wedde: The location—De Burcht in Wedde (Groningen province)—was held by the NSB during the 1930s, following the party’s purchase of the site in 1933. The gathering: On May 21, 1934 (Whit Monday), thousands of NSB sympathizers traveled to Wedde for the party’s first major national rally.
