Description
(NSB) Jeugdstorm Provincial female leadership and high executives brooch.
This is a NSB Jeugdstorm (Youthstorm) brooch for “Gewestelijke Meisjesleidersters en kaderleden” [Provincial female leadership and high executives].
There are only two of these brooches known in the collectorsworld and these are among the very rarest of all NSB awards/insignia. To my knowledge in 25 years of collecting has never before been such a brooch for sale.
The symbolism of the brooch was explained in the Jeugdstorm “Stormmeeuw” [Stormmew] magazine. In edition #4 of the 8th annual, in 1942:
- In the centre above all is a sunwheel symbol, resembling a sunwheel, swastika or trifos, but here explained to be of a stylish design. The meaning is that of the sun, of a lifebringer that defeats the cold and warms and fertilizes every year the earth. Its s symbol of strenght, hope and faith.
- Surroung is the lifetree, springing from a (mothers)hearth, which can also be seen as the soil.
- In the middle is a Odal-rune, symbol for heritage, for the free human, bound again to the soil and blood
The brooch is in excellent condition and extremely rare. Only a very limited number was made during the war. There were at the time only 11 (ELEVEN!) female provincial leaders and maximum a handfull female high executives. I estimate maximum 15 were worn before 1945.
Im not aware of any other in another advanced collection or musum. The brooch comes from my own collection and when it’s gone it’s gone.
