Description
The National Association of “”Landbouw & Maatschappij” [Agriculture and Society] was founded on May 29, 1933 in the Ogterop hall in Meppel. This union was founded by a merger of several provincial farmers’ unions, which had been founded a few years earlier throughout the Netherlands out of dissatisfaction with the economic situation in agriculture and because the political parties did not do enough for the farmers. These farmers’ unions mainly distinguished themselves from the existing Agricultural Societies by greater political involvement and by speaking out more clearly. In a short time they gathered a huge number of members and achieved large attendance figures at meetings and country days. Some of the leaders of the union were attracted to National Socialism and at the end of 1940 the union was merged into the Dutch Agrarian Front (NAF), a shell organization of the NSB. As such the organisation has always been the precurser of the NSB guild of ther Agrarian Front.
In very good condition.
