This is a portuguese “Bilderbericht” (press image) of Knightscross recipient Gerard Mooyman visiting Reichskommissar der Besetzte Niederländische Gebiete Arthur Seyss-Inquart.
The size is 24 x 18,5 centimeters, it was at some point after the war framed, the image itelf is of course Original.
These Bilderberichte were made in several languages and hung a certain period (mostly a week) in glass display cabinets in the Streets of large cities, to inform the people of what was happening in the war. Of course Mooyman being the first non-german recipient of the knightscross was good propaganda and this was largely displayed in magazines, newspapers, books et cetera at the time.
I have seen these paper image “bilderberichte” in several langues and purposes for the Netherlands and Belgium (both in Dutch) and of course most were in the German language. This is however the very first such item i have ever encountered in PORTUGESE!
A rare and desirable item. I did not take it out of the glass frame and photographed it as i found it. The frame may not be period from the war, but it makes for a nice displayitem.
Very rare to find!!!
