Description
This is an original pressphoto from 1945, from just before the end of the war. It is a portrait of Heinrich Himmler (21,5×17 cm) 1945.
International News Photo 1945.
The photo is from before the Second World War’s end. There is mentioning of the propable death of Hitler according to Eisenhouwer, but also of Himmler conducting negotiations of surrender. This pressphoto was most probably thus intended for use after Hitler’s death on 30 april 1945, but before the surrender of Germany on 7/8 May 1945. The purpose of the photo is thus obvious, it was to show who Himmler was as he was expected to lead the surrender of Germany. Of course the last days of the war would turn out otherwise, but the intend of the photo is quite clear with this late war history in mind.
All original Himmler photo’s are extremely hard to find, particularly these large format photo’s.
Offered only for historical purposy to researchers and/or museums. This would make an interesting displaypiece to any collectorscabinet or museumdisplay.
In very good condition.
