Description
This is an original pressphoto. It shows NSB/WA commander Arie Zondervan, handing over in a ceremony the offical flag of the dutch SS Volunteer Legion, to men of the 1st Batallion of the Legion before leaving to the Eastfront.
The size of the photo is approximately 22,5 x 16,5 centimeters. This is the largest and rarest size of this photo to find.
On the back can be read:
“Den Haag, 11 october 1941. Onder groote belangstelling is heden het 1e Nederlandsch nationaal socialistisch bataljon, bestaande uit duizend W.A.Mannen, naar het Oostfront vertrokken. De commandant der W.A. Mr. Zondervan draagt het vaandel over aan het bataljon”

This is the largest available size that was made of this photo. From my own collection. In all my collecting years i’ve only once had this photo in this size. Extremely rare and i don’t even know the words to describe how rare this original photo is.
