This is a double medal bar consisting of the Prussian commemorative medal for the 1866 Königgratz battle between Prussia and Austria and a 1897 centenary medal for the 100th birthday of German emperor Wilhelm I. It is thus a over 120 year old medalbar!
The Königgratz cross is made of melted captured canons of the Austrians, so that every veteran could always wear a piece of the defeated enemy with him.
On top of the cross is written “Königgratz”, indicating that this particular variation was for the Königgratz soldiers who were part of troops that did participate in the battle of Königgratz.
Both medals are on their original (!) ribbons and mounted as a double parade bar for wearing. Original ribbons are very rare to find!
