This is a very interesting and well made wooden framework from former RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) 185/10 Arbeitsmann Alfred Malek.
Malek made this frame to house and display some of his RAD items. The frame can easily be openend (by shoving the glass front open) and contains the following items:
- Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) ärmelabzeichen 185/10
- A very nice pair of RAD Shoulderboards
- A pair of very rare Fusslappen (Footwraps).
- His nametag.
Especially the footwraps are extremely rare and are hardly ever encountered, in fact this is the first RAD issued pair we have ever seen and we can’t find another pair on the internet! In short Footwraps were already somewhat outdated in the 1930’s, but were worn untill the end of the war by some men who wore them instead of socks and then especially in (long) boots for some extra wearing comfort. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footwraps
The framework with it’s content is a pretty nice and this is overall a nice and rare set of named items from one man and one of the lesser known RAD groups.
A rare and one of a kind set!
