This is a sad set: a soldbuch from a deceased Wehrmacht soldier, with postal enveloppe in which it was sent afterwards to his parents as a commemorative item.
The enveloppe comes from the “Deutsche Dienststelle für die Benachrichting der nächsten Angehörigen von Gefallenen der ehemaligen deutschen Wehrmacht”, Abwicklungsstelle REf. V (nachlass) Berling-Dahlem. Podbielski-Allee.
The Soldbuch is from Grenadier Bernard Schorn, Erkennungsmarke 9839, who was a part of Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildung Kompanie 167 and later part of Aufklarungs E.u.A. Abteilung 7 from Augsburg.
There is no sign of when he died, but there are still entries of april 1945 in the soldbuch.
The enveloppe in which the soldbuch was sent, was adressed to his father Arnold Schorn. The adres on the enveloppe corresponds with the adres given of his next of kin (his parents) in the soldbuch.
In the Soldbuch is also a passphoto of his girlfriend Ivona, as well as a number of postwar made enlarged photo’s of his soldbuch (perhaps done by the parents as a commemorative?).
A sad set that shows very well the seriousness of war. As a set rare to encouter like this.
