Description
This is a document grouping of SS-Sturmbannführer der Waffen SS Heinz Funke. It contains his SS Fahrlehrerschein and the rarely ever seen SS-Kraftfahrsachverständigen Schein. Both passes are typical oilcloth passes and are very hard to find, particularly the SS-Kraftfahrsachverständigen Schein is very rare.
Heinz Funke was a member of the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH), and later transfered to the Totenkopfverbände and then even later to the 17. SS Panzergrenadier-Division Götz von Berlichingen, where he served in 1944 in Normandy where he was wounded and then ultimately captured in august 1944.
Also included is a handwritten poem on packingpaper, two postwar photo’s (the photo in full SS uniform showing a Nahkampfspange is a copy from the Archive G. v. B. Ott-Gettorf), cutout obituary newspaper clippings, a Waffenschein from 1954, two multi page files from 1976 with an eulogy as spoken during his burial, and a VERY extensive extract of his full service record (only a few sample pages shown here), taken from the archives in Washington.
Such a complete researched archive is very rare to find. Obviously the two original drivers licences are the two best items, but all the researchmaterial makes for a very interesting group.
