This is a (Sudetenland) Bund der Deutschen memberpin + Amtswalter der Gruppenwart booklet from 1937.
The “Bund der Deutschen” (German Confederation of Germans) was a Czech national defence organisation, established on 1 July 1934 on the constituent General Assembly in Litoměřice. It was involved in economic, cultural, educational and social support activities. The BdD brought a change in the Federal Sudeten German movement both in the contents of federal work as in its organization structure. After changing the articles of Association, it began to support the idea of a leadership principle, and the idea of the Sudeten German community gradually became radical in the program of the National Socialist Union. In the spring of 1938, the BdD joined in the political leadership, led by Konrad Henlein. During World War II it worked for the Association of German ethnic groups abroad, the “Verein für das Deutschtum im Ausland” (VDA).
This is an extremely rare set consisting of a BdD memberpin and a booklet that is seldom encountered. The booklet itself is the first we’ve ever encountered!
