Description
This is a complete series of the Tag der Deutschen Kunst Gau-München Oberbayern metal figures, including the extremeley rare original 4-page folder (on A4 format) that explains the whole series. I am not aware of any other of these folders in existence!
The series itself is one of the most sought after Winterhilfswerk WHW) series, dating to the winter of 1940/1941.
The figures represent two groups of pagan images, picturing the Summer and the Winter. A lot of attention was given to this history int he Haus der Deutsches Kunst exhibitions and this interest lead to a WHW series being issued as well. There were/are however some issues: the series was made in a small run and the biggest problem for collecting it already during the war was the issue dates of the series: only local and only two days at a time for each figure. Making it fairly impossible to collect them all. Starting 21/22 september 1940 and ending 4/5 januari 1941.
This is the whole series, and as such in this complete form and very good condition very seldom offered. Only one piece is damaged and has two broken of details, they are still present and can easily glued back).
Loose figures can already bring between 15 – 50 euro A PIECE on auctionsites, especially the Sonnenwagen and Vorreiter are very rare. Hardly ever a complete series is offered.
The hereby also offered 4-page paper is probably unique, no other is known. It explains the whole series, the names of the figures, the days they were offered, et cetera.
It is a once in a lifetime chance to get something very rare for your WHW or art collection! This can be the centrepiece of a Winterhilfswerk collection or research for a book!
Ps: i highlighted some parts in red to not give any fakers an idea to replicate it, the red redacted parts are all there and undamaged.
