Description
This is a WWI Iron Cross first Class + Mecklenburg-Schwerin Militärverdienstkreuz first Class, both crosses are with eyelets and are convex shaped (gewölbt)!!!
This particular Iron Cross is a privat made jewelerpiece of which only a few are known worldwide. A similar cross is pictured in the excellent and among collectors well known and respected 2 volume book by Frank Wernitz (Das Eiserne Kreuz 1813 – 1870 – 1914), of which i added a picture here of the relevant page.
The EK1 cross came together with a Mecklenburg-Schwerin Militärverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse which also has eyelets, via a friend directly from the family and has for 100 years never been in collectorshands before.
Both crosses are in very good condition and can easily be considered among the very rarest crosses on the EK1 and MS-Mvk1 area.
