Description
This is an “Originalmünze Mit Hindenburg” / Hindenburg commemorative coin + paper.
Both do not belong together perse, but are typical for the period. The (thick, thin cardboard) paper is in the form of a Telegram like citation, but was meant for commercial patriotic purposes. It depicts a Hindenburg commemorative coin and makes mention to the German people, that they should wear coins like this, miniature Iron Crosses or an miniature canon “Fleissige Berta” to show their support to the war.
Both the citation and coin were collected together, but are sold here together too.
The coin is of real silver (also marked like this on the edge) and shows an image of Generaloberst Paul von Hindenburg. On the back is written: “Der Russenbezwinger Ostpreussensbefreier Tannenberg Ortelsburg”, and the date 1914.
Both the paper and the coin are very hard to find!
