The plate shows in the centre a boy with a red cross flag and two shields in his hands. The shields show on the left, the German “Reichsadler” – which was the weapon of the Kaiserreich since 1888 – and on the right, the Austrian double headed eagle. The small triple weapon on the double eagle – which was the house weapon of the Austrian dynasty from 1806-1915 – shows the weapons of Habsburg, Austria and Lothringen.
The written content on the backside or underside, shows information aboout the initiators tht issued the plate: the Preußischer Landesverein vom Roten Kreuz und Vaterländische Frauenverein.
The plates were intended to be commemorative items, to thank for the work of the women that did their duty in the hospitals of the Great War. This fact can be taken from the words of Ludwig Fulda, which can also be read on the underside of the plate: “A pledge of blessing, dedicated to those hands that give gentle relief to the bitter suffering of war”.
