Description
WWI Prussian/Saxonian M1915 Infantry enlisted men Pickelhaube (Spiked helmet).
In used condition, but still very good for it’s age.
There are some agemarks, but overal it is a pretty nice helmet for it’s age.
Marked on the inside with size “58”, complete with the leather chinstrap.
On the inside of the neckpart is a faint stamp visible: B.A.XIX.18
Stamped inside with issueyear “1915” and the name of the maker Müller & Sprung from Dresden.
During the war the Prussian army issued helmets to Saxonian troops, this was due to production timepressure and a general shortage of raw materials and demands for more uniforms and helmets for the front. The Saxonian army then gave these helmets (despite a different frontplate) to it’s troops, but did add their own white-green-white cockardes. This explains (the obviously) confusing combination of a Prussion frontplate with green Saxonian coackade. Also the “Reichs” coackade and Saxonian cockade are on opposite sides as would be required by official regulations. All is 100% original together and in as found condition.
This is a pretty rare original (!) combination to find, but an all the more interesting Pickelhaube helmet for the collector!
