This is a very rare WWII framed RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) service commemorative citation. It is dated to 1950 and describes how on 28-03-1945 RAD man Josef Hottler joined the RAD in Salzburg where he learned about “Waffenausbildung untill April 1945 (extremely late war!) and then in the very last stages of the war was ultimately captured by the Russians where he remained in captivity until 1950.
The citation shows all kinds of typical German WWII army scenes, which in itself is remarkable as one would expect this not to be the matter anymore post war! Very curious! The citation was printed by Pillerdruck in Wien, which explains it maybe a little, in that it is not a German but Austrian made item?
The size of the frame is very large, measuring approximately 60 x 48 centimeters.
A rare item in very good condition!
