More background:
Captivating photographic documentation of the experiences and battles of the 1st Polish Armoured Division in France, Belgium and Holland during World War II. When the War started in Sept. 1939, there were only two mechanized Brigades in Poland. One of them, the 10th Cavalry Brigade had to cross the Hungarian frontier and was interned. By different ways and after long travels all over Europe soldiers finally met in France fighting in the last stages of the French campaign. They went to Britain to join the people who were determined to fight until the end of Hitler’s Third Reich. Remnants of other units such as Poles from Canada, North and South America, Africa, Middle East and Russia joined the Polish Forces in Scotland. Polish Ground Forces, Air Force and Navy were formed and of the veterans of the 10th Cavalry Brigade and Polish Armoured Corps the 1st Polish Armoured Division was born. Profusely illustrated with 72 captioned b/w reproductions of photographs and 1 full-page map. Some foxing and minor creasing on wraps. Wrappers in good, interior in very good condition.
